Ainol Novo 7 Paladin Tablet Review

Ainol NOVO7 Paladin is the first 7-inch tablet that ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, powered by Ingenic JZ4770 SoC processor, which has highly integrated 1GHz XBurst core CPU, 1080P VPU and GPU units, and features low power consumption plus XPower intelligent power system.

Ainol first released the Novo 7 Basic edition which ran Android 2.3. The tablet had a 7 inch capacitive touch screen, and 1GHz CPU. Then later Aniol Novo 7 Basic edition tablet was quickly replaced by the Android 3.2 Honeycomb Novo 7 Advanced edition. Both tablets basically have the same features and outer appearance. However, the basic edition is no longer available, because Ainol kept all its targets to release the first Ice Cream Sandwich tablet PC in the market.

Ainol Novo 7 Paladin Tablet is the first ever tablet running the Ice cream Sandwich operating system. The Paladin Tablet edition has several upgrades and better features to its advanced edition. Compared to the Novo7 Advanced edition, the Paladin tablet edition does not have any touch navigation button on the side.

Another difference between the two tabs is the Android 4.0 version's system requires it has a 8gb of built-in memory. The batteries in the units are both 4000mah allowing standby time of 30 hours and continuous video playback time of 8 hours.

The biggest difference between the two tablets is that the Advanced edition has dual cameras - 2 mega pixel at its rear and a VGA front camera and comes with a free remote control. The Novo 7 Paladin does not have a web camera and nor it comes with a remote control.

The Ainol Novo 7 Advanced is only a few dollars more than the Paladin. The fact that is has dual cameras probably will take the engineers a litle longer to release and Android 4.0 firmware update that supports the cameras and remote control.

Ainol Novo 7 Paladin Tablet PC sports a 7 inch Capacitive touchscreen display, giving resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. The tablet hosts internal storage of 8GB and offers WiFi connectivity.

The top side of the tablet has 3 physical keys, the Menu, the Back and the Power key. The side has the Volume rocker keys, the reset key, the Mini USB slot, Mic and the MicroSD card slot.
